INFORMS Award – Submission Guidelines

|Submission deadline: December 15, 2022|
The award is open to university or graduate professional program faculty and students across any discipline, department or school within a university that is engaged in designing, building and evaluating IT artefacts for research and experimental purposes.Individuals may nominate one or more persons for this award. Each nomination should include the information described below. Self-nominations are welcome.

Each application will contain
- A cover statement for the submission summarizing:
- Nominee contact email address
- Submitter’s first and last name
- Submitter’s contact email address
- Submitter’s phone number
- Title of research effort, project, or program you are nominating.
- A summary of essential goals, accomplishments and contributions of the research effort. Limited to 500 words total. The summary will include:
- Insights related to design principles or design science that has emerged from this specific line of work. Also summarize how and why the work has contributed more generally to Information Systems related Design Science in the past or present, or how the work will contribute in the future.
- Why the submitted work is to be considered as being within the realm of Information Systems related Design Science (based on Item #2 in the appendix.)
- Verification that the project is principally led and driven by university based faculty, staff and students for R&D or educational purposes.
- A list of supporting documentation items submitted on the R&D effort submitted.
- Supporting documentation to include:
- One or more supporting peer-reviewed published paper which clearly explains the Design Science effort being nominated for the award. The paper may be either a journal, conference or workshop paper as long as it is rigorously peer reviewed.
- Optionally, submissions may include other types of supporting information as well. For example, a submission package may also include:
- Project web sites with URL’s Videos or other multi-media explanations of the work
- Stand-alone presentations which are designed to be understandable even if viewed without an accompanying verbal explanation.
- Submissions may include letters of recommendation, evaluation, or support. While these are not required, it would be useful to have these in the application package to demonstrate the impact of the design science artifacts to practice. Please make sure such letters provide substantive information and insight which can help the judging panel to understand the work and its practical significance to Design Science in the context of Information Systems.
File Submission Naming Convention
All submitted documents MUST follow this naming convention:
[NOMINEE’s First Name] [NOMINEE’s Last Name] File description
For example: Mary Smith is nominating Joseph Brown. Therefore the documents Mary submits will be titled:
- Joseph Brown Cover Statement
- Joseph Brown Summary
- Joseph Brown Support Doc 1
- Joseph Brown Support Doc 2, etc., etc.
Files can be in .pdf formats. (Files must be in PDF format).
