Former President Message

Message From the Former WITS President

Right from my days as a doctoral student, my interests lay in developing new IT-enabled solutions addressing organizational problems. I particularly enjoyed the creativity associated with designing systems that were rooted in rigorous principles from diverse disciplines such as probability theory, operations research, and economics, and that could address emergent issues being faced by businesses and other organizations. For me, the Workshop on Information Systems and Technologies (WITS in short) has been an outstanding forum to present my own work, and to learn from other like-minded researchers over the last couple of decades; in fact, WITS has been central to the development of my research career. Therefore, when I was nominated to serve as the President of WITS, I appreciated the opportunity to be able to give back to the community. As IT becomes increasingly more instrumental to the way organizations innovate and conduct their businesses, WITS has the opportunity to play an even more central (and critical) role for researchers in the information systems field. Indeed, if your interests lie in solving business problems using IT, I believe WITS meetings should be an integral part of your conference agenda.
